If you haven’t yet visited my Courses page, you might not know that in the Summer 2015 quarter,
I took an Archival and Manuscript Services course. It was during this course that I had an assignment
in which I was required to visit a repository and potentially interview a staff member there. I worked
across the street from the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Its proximity to my former job, and that fact
that it’s an art focused institution gave me the convenience of heading over on my lunch break, and
continue to develop assignments around my undergraduate degree.
My meeting with Mary Richardson, the director of the library, conjured up the topic of internship
opportunities. She mentioned that the MCA has twice-yearly internship opportunities, and I was sold!
The deadline for the Summer/Fall term was fast approaching, so I made it my goal to line my schooling
up to apply for the Winter/Spring 2016 term, and here I am today, with the conclusion my internship.
